Around 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast found themselves lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems impacted the region, producing strong winds topping 109km/h.

Massive Hailstones and Extensive Impact

Residents observed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were working to restore electricity service throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Meanwhile, around one thousand households in Victoria also faced power outages after Melbourne recorded its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.

Rescue organizations handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mainly for building damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.
