The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 years since the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and introducing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.
