Vinted Shoppers Express Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.

The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.

It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Modifications

Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

User Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.

Platform Context

The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
